Amish with a Twist has begun

Because I didn’t have enough quilting projects started – you should notice sarcasm in my voice – I signed up for a Block of the Month (BOM) at Pressing Matters Quilt Shop. It’s actually a quilt I’ve had on my radar for quite some time. It’s very pretty and is made with traditional Amish colors. It’s called Amish with a Twist and was originally designed by Nancy Rink. It’s been around for a few years and I thought the BOM would maybe be a way for me to finish it. It started in November and I picked up the December block this week. I actually got to complete the November block and have my fabric ready to cut for December. It’s all pretty straightforward designs and doesn’t look like it will be very difficult. I’ve got to watch my 1/4 seams though. My blocks were a bit small and I know I was one or two threads too fat on my seam. I will just have to be more careful in the next months.

Happy New Year!

2013Happy New Year! Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been since APRIL that I posted to this blog. I had good intentions but it was a crazy year – good in a lot of ways but full of stress and the blog just didn’t get updated. As a result of all that craziness my quilting didn’t get much attention either. There just wasn’t time. My job took over my brain and my time and just about got me down. Fortunately, I think good things are going to come out of all of that and I am looking forward to what 2013 brings – in all my worlds.

In my quilting world I was able to pick up a Block of the Month that I subscribed to in November and hammered out the first block. It’s nothing complicated and one that I’ve wanted to do for quite some time. I’ll take some pictures and post in the next few days. I am hoping to be able to get the December block finished this weekend. Good intentions!
